Wii U Admin Debug Menu Hack Discovered

Share

For those of you who do not already know, Nintendo left a debug menu in the US Nintendo Wii U’s

This was left behind to test things such as the browser (ACID TEST). Another thing they forgot to remove was access access to their SQL  Miiverse Database.

This contained such juicy details as upcoming Nintendo Wii U titles.

Yoshi’s Island Wii U and Soul Hackers,  ”Metal Gear Solid” and “Resident Evil”, and a new Pokemon were leaked from this hack. Nintendo was not intending on releasing these until at least December 10th 2012.

As you can see from the photos it allowed you to execute some SQL database commands such as “regenerate password” “approve or deny” a comment on a forum (It appears that they are testing an online community forum as you can see from the photos, the admins were chatting back and forth and it has an option for OK or NG, which stands for OK this post is fine and approved or NG – Not Good – Delete this post) and also “Manage admin users” – Which allowed anyone to dump admin users from Nintendo’s MiiVerse Database.

The Wii U debug menu was accessible by Moving the cursor over “Exit” in MiiVerse while tapping the X on the keypad a few times.

As soon as Nintendo discovered this was in the wild they immediately shut down the database / admin debug menu in the Wii U.
