Wii U Running Homebrew Channel

Share

Fail0verflow has managed to find an exploit that is compatible to run on the Wii U and install the Homebrew Channel instead.

This will work using the Smash Stack exploit in the Wii U (Super Smash Bros. will be needed)

In case you do not have Super Smash Bros for Wii, you can pick a copy up on Amazon using the link below.

Note: This exploit once it has been fully tested and proven safe will still only function in normal Wii Mode

Meaning that you will be able to use your favorite emulators and any other homebrew apps you liked on your original Wii.

The Wii U mode is taking a little more time to break, but this is just one step forward into having the Wii U fully hacked.

so will this install homebrew permanently in wii mode and can you do it with firmware 2.0.0?

  • Joe says:

Well, of course I would like to see the Wii U mode hacked, but the 3DS, which was released almost 2 years ago, hasn’t been fully hacked (only the old DS mode, as far as I know). Now imagine how sad it’ll be to wait that amount of time for the Wii U… The PS3 took some time, also.

Check out AceKard, it runs a flashed card that you can load games and homebrew on instead of hacking the firmware.

Anyone else notice how the opening message after switching to Wii mode, looks different than it should? It has colors on the screen, the red triangle and blue writing… On my Wii U, it’s all white.

That’s kind of pricey on amazon. I’d check ebay, or local pawn shops.

The Homebrew Channel is now available for the Wii part of the Wii U!

I hope this doesn’t get hacked soon. It’s what destroyed the Wii in my opinion. Yeah, ok, homebrew channel, thats great and all, until someone then goes off and releases a way to play copied/ downloaded games.

Game sales are down = high prices = because of things like this. meh.

I totally agree with that Daniel. I am all about homebrew, I love to have devices run things that they are not supposed to (except for pirated games) I have been a programmer for a few years now and would hate for someone to leak all the work I have done, even though its proprietary and useless to most people it would still kill me :(
